Some might even consider them ordinary.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBut avant garde has always depended, at least partly, on where one is standing.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFor HoM Haute, this fragrance breaks several of the house’s own unwritten rules. The house has often been drawn toward difficult materials, unusual proportions, old structures, naturals, imperfections and compositions that do not necessarily begin with the question of broad familiarity. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhy So Serious?\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e deliberately walks in another direction.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIts starting point is something undeniably familiar and unapologetically popular: the expansive woody amber language that has become one of the signatures of contemporary perfumery. Iso E Super and Ambrox form an enormous part of its architecture. Around them are transparent florals, clean musks and modern sandalwood materials. Violet and iris-like tones enter the clean woody space. Lotus brings a watery, almost suspended floral quality. Pepper gives it friction. Incense introduces shadow. Basil and thyme appear where something smoother might have been expected. What feels experimental within one tradition can be completely ordinary within another. What one person considers beautiful may leave another untouched. Classical against modern. Natural against synthetic. Difficult against commercial. Artistic against popular. Compliant against unrestricted. Its large modern materials are not treated with embarrassment. Its stranger details are not presented as proof of artistic seriousness. Sometimes there is no hidden stupidity or bad intention on either side. Two people can look at exactly the same thing, describe it differently, and both descriptions can make sense from where they stand.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThat does not mean every question has no answer, or that right and wrong never exist.
