“The perfume you wear is a way to love yourself, and the memories it holds.”

On two scent-memories that live side by side, a fragrance club full of ridiculous and wonderful people, a mountain measured in feeling, and a day held together by coffee, jasmine and matcha.

Putri Elsa is based in East Jakarta and works as an officer in Central Jakarta, and makes things for the internet in the hours around it. She describes herself in a single line that reads like a coat of arms: grace in silence, fire in ambition, loving deeply and living intentionally. Four qualities, held in balance. It turns out to be the most useful thing she tells us, because everything else on this page runs on the same principle: two things at once, warmth and restraint, kept from tipping into either.
Not one song but a whole list, the way she does most things: gathered, curated, and warmer than it first looks.
Four qualities, held in balance
She did not give a history when we asked for a backstory. She gave four qualities and trusted us to read them: grace in silence, fire in ambition, loving deeply, living intentionally. It is not a list of moods. It is a list of things she is doing at the same time, which is harder than it sounds, because most of them pull in opposite directions.
So we made it something you can actually turn over. Each of the four sends her toward a different corner of the shelf, and the whole card takes on its colour.
Her own four words, and where each one points when she is choosing something to wear. Tap the one you want to hear.
Four qualities, held in balance. Most people pick one and let the others go.
Each points to a different scent. Held together, they are the reason nothing she wears is ever only one thing.
The club where everyone was ridiculous
Her way in was not a bottle. It was a room full of people. She had an eagerness to jump into fragrance, so she did the sensible strange thing and put herself in new company, at the Jakarta Fragrance Club. That was the rendezvous. Amazing people, conversations about anything, and everyone, in her word, ridiculous.
It matters that she names the people before the perfume. For her the hobby was never really about the liquid. It was about who you end up sitting next to because of it.
Two memories, side by side
Ask her for a scent that takes her somewhere and she does not choose. She gives two, and they turn out to be the two halves of the same taste.
The first is her own. A Night in Strasbourg went up Bromo with her, and every spray brings the warmth of that mountain back, which she calls very cozy. The second is not hers at all. Scandal Absolu Pour Homme is what her boyfriend wore the first time they met, and she says it defined a man without saying more or less than it needed to. One scent is a place she went. The other is a person who arrived. She keeps both.
The valley still under cloud, everything soft and grey and waiting. This is where the climb starts.
She measures a mountain in feeling, not in metres. So do we.

Bromo · The scent of elevationNot measured in metres, but in emotion. A Night in Strasbourg made the trip.
Three daily drivers, one temperature
What she reaches for now is a small, consistent set: A Night in Strasbourg by HoM Haute, Scandal Absolu for women by Jean Paul Gaultier, and Memo by Personal Chemistry. Three different bottles that she says share one vibe, bold and sweet and warm, and each carries its own chapter of her life.
She always adores a warm, sweet, sensual scent, and she is unusually clear that this is a preference, not a default. So here is the whole range, cool to warm, with the spot she actually lives marked on it.
A day, in cups and one flower
Her ritual is not one gesture, it is a whole day with a shape to it, and she lists it in order without ceremony. It starts with coffee and ends with matcha, and there is a flower keeping her going in the middle.
The day gets kicked off with a Japanese coffee. Not a big ceremony, just the first warm, deliberate thing, before anything is asked of her.
Good taste, without the fear
Her definition of good taste is almost a definition of a person. It begins with integrity and self-respect, and knowing what to wear for the occasion and the situation. But the part that gives it away comes at the end: good taste, she says, is having your own view without fear of being rejected, and without fear of missing out on the trend.
That is the harder half. Anyone can dress for the room. Doing it from your own opinion, while the trend runs the other way and nobody claps, is the thing she is actually describing. It is the same balance as her four qualities, applied to a wardrobe.

The golden moon · Warm and comfortingAn eye-catching, warm and comforting scent, captured as a light in the dark.
One belief, defended
Her line is about beginnings, and it is quietly built for the times things do not work out, which is what makes it wiser than it first sounds.
Start everything in a good way, because if it does not end well, at least you begin with a good path.
“The perfume you wear is not just a scent. It is a way for you to love yourself, and the memories it holds.”
