I had high hopes for this one because I love violet. It opens ozonic and dewy-violet, beautifully fresh, then turns powdery and woody from the iris and cedar — like a board of powdered wood. Slowly a smokiness rises from the leather, but never heavy. Hats off to HoM Haute, who can always make something mind-blowing.

Jasmine, which usually turns sharp and unruly, becomes creamy and playful in om Reza's hands — perhaps because it sits beside marigold (in Bali we call it mitir, one of our flowers for offerings). It opens straight into jasmine and marigold, then frankincense enters the heart, politely; by the drydown the frankincense is joined by sandalwood and it turns elegant and expensive — but calm and soothing too.

Saladin: one of the best-looking releases, to me — a chic iris with a waxy character, smooth classic leather, and a sandalwood body that somehow feels zen, with a faint animalic edge. Very calming, simple, beautiful.

Always happy when I buy another from this brand. The creations never fail to impress me — and there is always a bonus. This time the bonus was another scent from my wishlist.

My first from the Sartorial line — love at first sniff. Honestly, it's so good.

Such a complex floral — there's a vintage makeup accord woven through it that brings back childhood: waiting for Mum to finish her makeup, the feeling of Grandma's house. The bonuses are wonderful too: one all peach and aldehyde up top, more modern and lipstick-like; the other gorgeous and animalic, yet still wearable. Brilliant work, om Reza.

The most beautiful release — like a garden full of flowers, with a smooth drydown. A little lipstick-like, but still very wearable.

So beautiful — clean and fruity, with a classic chypre approach, but never too old-school: more grown-up, without being old. The bonus is lovely as well, green and herbal in just the right measure, with a touch of powder.

A lovely chypre with a touch of peach that feels refreshing up top. So enjoyable, om — absolutely wild. And it pairs beautifully with another of the house's scents.
