The early visions of the future imagined cities of chrome and glass, skylines lit by neon, information flowing through invisible networks — humanity surrounded by technology so advanced the line between natural and artificial would finally disappear. Yet in almost all of them, one thing was missing: the smell of wood. The smell of forests. The smell of things that once grew slowly beneath the rain.

What happens to oud in the future?

Aquilaria Cyberpunk begins with that question. Not oud preserved in a museum, nor a nostalgic memory of ancient luxury, but oud reconstructed, reinterpreted, and uploaded into an entirely new world — a future where nature is not abandoned, but translated into a new language.

The opening is electric and atmospheric: black pepper, saffron, violet leaf, elemi, metallic facets and ozone — the sensation of stepping into a city of holographic advertisements and endless reflections. Light bounces across wet concrete. Neon glows against dark surfaces. The air feels charged with information and possibility.

The composition — top to base
Neon City, After Rain
Black pepper, saffron and violet leaf lit by elemi, ozone and metallic facets — the charged, electric air of a skyline of holographic advertisement and reflection. Light on wet concrete.
Oud, Rebuilt from Data
Not the dense, animalic oud of tradition, but a futuristic Neo Oud Accord with cypriol and ebony — abstract and architectural, the memory of agarwood seen through screens. Wrapped in black suede: smooth, matte, tailored, a garment of materials that do not yet exist.
The Forest That Survived
Massoia bark and oil, Mysore and Australian sandalwood, cedar and cashmere woods expand across the skin — warmer, creamier, unexpectedly comforting. Tonka and a coconut-flesh accord deepen the lactonic woods into sandalwood infused with liquid cream.
The materials
Tap a material to read its role.
Ozone & Metallics
The charged air of the opening — cool, synthetic, luminous. Ozone and metallic facets read like light bouncing off chrome and wet glass, the digital sheen of a city that never goes dark.
Saffron & Violet Leaf
Saffron lends a leathery, dried-fruit glow; violet leaf a green, faintly metallic coolness. Together they bridge the ancient and the artificial in the first breath.
Neo Oud Accord
The heart of the composition — oud rebuilt rather than harvested. Abstract, architectural, clean; agarwood as it might exist after being scanned, coded and rendered anew.
Cypriol & Ebony
Smoky, dry, earthy woods that give the neo-oud its shadow and grain — the dark timber structure beneath the chrome.
Black Suede
Texture, not weight. Smooth, matte and tailored, it evokes futuristic garments — soft to the touch yet visually dark, a striking contrast against the metallic brightness around it.
Sandalwood, Tonka & Coconut
The soul. Massoia, Mysore and Australian sandalwood turn warm and creamy; tonka and a coconut-flesh accord make them almost edible — the organic warmth the old futures forgot to imagine.

“Cold and warm. Digital and organic. Chrome and wood. Data and memory.”

Blade Runner 2049
Denis Villeneuve · 2017
Neon drowned in rain, chrome softened by fog, a longing for something living underneath it all — the exact tension this fragrance is built on.
Black suede & brushed steel
Matte against mirror
Garments of materials that do not yet exist — soft, dark, tailored — worn against surfaces that throw the neon back at you.
Synthwave Night Drive
Neon-lit, machine-warm
Analog synthesizers pretending to be the future — nostalgia for a tomorrow that never arrived, warmth wrung out of circuitry.
A rooftop garden above the grid
Rain · reflection · wood
High above a city of light, something still grows in the dark and the damp — the forest that learned to survive the machines.

From the bench

The future oud is an accord: Neo Oud, cypriol, and ebony standing in for the silhouette of agarwood, with ozone and metallics as the neon field around it. The trick is the landing: massoia and coconut cream lactones warm the chrome into skin, so the drydown feels human after all.

The wearer

The train doors close on a wall of light. She watches her reflection layered over the city, chrome outside, cream at the collar, and cannot tell which of the two the future will keep.
